Kingston– An enterprising seventh wicket stand of 83 between Rayad Emrit (52) and Imran Khan (36) offered hope, but Jamaica's 286 which T&T needed to win their sixth round four-day regional fixture at Sabina Park, yesterday proved too much.
In the end, Jamaica proved too strong, winning by 93 runs, to stay on course for another lien on the regional four-day title.
The pair came together with T&T reeling at 86-6 and once they were together Jamaica looked ragged in the field. It took an unfortunate mix up between the pair and a good piece of fielding by Odean Brown to run out Emrit to put their team on the victory path.
The run chase was never going to be easy and T&T soon found themselves in trouble with Adrian Barath (8), Lendl Simmons (10) and Jason Mohammed (3) back in the pavilion with just 26 runs on the board.
Skipper Dinesh Ramdin (30) and Yannick Ottley (22) steadied the innings in a partnership of 53, before Nikta Miller who took 4-54, removed Ramdin to a good catch at first slip by Parchment to leave T&T 79-4. Ottley followed at the same score, lbw to Browne and T&T plunged further into trouble when Yannick Cariah (6) became Miller's second victim of the innings to leave the score 86-6.
Any thoughts Jamaica may have had of wrapping up the innings were quickly put to rest as Emrit and Khan went after the Jamaica bowling in an enterprising stand with contrasting styles.
Emrit, in particular, batted freely, hitting five fours and two sixes in his knock before the mix up brought the partnership to an end at 169 for seven.
Tamar Lambert's gentle off spin accounted for Marlon Richards (2) and Miller removed Khan and Shannon Gabreil for a duck to wrap up the win with a day to spare.
Earlier Khan appeared to have brought T&T back into the game with an impressive spell of leg spin bowling during which he captured 5-28 from 9.1 overs.
Resuming at their overnight score of 184 for four, Jamaica added just 12 runs before fast bowler Shannon Gabreil removed Dave Bernard for a duck. Thereafter, Khan got into the act, grabbing the wickets of Carlton Baugh (13), Dave Richardson (11), Nikita Miller (11) and Sheldon Cottrerell (9) as Jamaica lost their last six wickets for 68 runs.
In between Kantasingh accounted for top scorer Parchment, trapping the batsman on the backfoot for a well played 75. Parchment hit eight fours and one six in his 280 minutes at the wicket and he faced 205 balls.
Jamaica's eventual total of 259 meant T&T needed 286 to win, which was never on the cards.
