Christina Ferreira and Denesh Jackree are the 2013 Republic Bank Caribbean Junior Open Gold Championships after claiming runaway, gate-to-wire victories yesterday at Moka, Maraval.
Ferreira ended with a total of 239 to comfortably retain her 16-17 girls category title, while Jackree produced another impressive 74 to end on 224 and claim his first Republic Bank Junior Open title.
Liam Bryden (235) was the 14-15 boys champion, while Sam Avey claimed the 11-13 boys title.
Ysabelle Lawrence copped the 14-15 girls title, while Serena Mackenzie wrapped up the 11-13 girls crown. Among the Caribbean contingent, Donald Leacock of Barbados finished third in the 16-17 boys event while Jonathan Bruce of St Lucia claimed third in the 11-13 boys.
It was another scorcher on the final day of competition as Jackree and Ferreira teed off on Friday morning at Moka, Maraval. Jackree kept his cool in the heat to extended his thirteen-shot lead to an impressive twenty�stroke victory over Wan Ju Lee (244) with Donald Leacock (247) of Barbados in third.
Ferreira matched her first day total of 78 on Friday to successfully defend the 16-17 girls title by an astounding margin of 61 shots over Sabrina Chan (300). In the 14-15 boys category, Liam Bryden (235) won ahead of Varun Singh (242) and Tobago's Sol Joanni (246).
Ysabelle Lawrence (250) triumphed in the 14-15 girls category with Ana Ferreira (253) second and Sabrina Mitchell (263) in third.
Sam Avey (249) also claimed a gate-to-wire win in the boys 11-13 category with Ryan Peters (261) second and St Lucia's Jonathan Bruce (266) in third.
