Five different players were on target as defending champions of the T&T Hockey Board Men's Championship Division battled past host Paradise 5-3 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Training Field, Bacolet, yesterday.
For Petrotrin, which whipped Malvern 4-1 in its title-defence opener on April 6, the national quartet of Atiba Whittington, Evan Farrell, Triston Grant and Dwain Quan Chan were all among the goals as well as Jonathan Williams while Arthur Patrick, Nave Roach and Vernell Rivers got Paradise replies.
With the win, Petrotrin moved to maximum six points from two matches, the same as Defence Force which leads the points table on goal-difference after clobbering Corona Fatima 6-0 in its opener followed by a 5-1 whipping of Paradise at Bacolet, a week ago.
National midfielder Marcus James scored a goal in each half for Defence Force while Nicholas Wren, Mickell Pierre and Brian Burrows chipped in with the others for the "Teteron Stickmen" to cancel out Dwayne John's lone reply for Paradise.
Also at Bacolet, yesterday, Harvard Maritime Checkers made it two wins from as many matches to head the standings, via a 3-1 defeat of Paradise in their Women's Championship Division encounter.
Mindy Charles got the opener for the visiting St James-based Checkers after which national youth and senior team forward got the other followed by an own-goal while Brandy Leith netted Paradise's lone item. (NS)
