Rain hampered action on day one of Round Nine in the National Cricket League Premier Division two-day competition yesterday.
Only 46 out of 105 overs were bowled at the Queen's Park Oval between the Parkites and Clarke Road, but it was still the most amount of play at any of the venues. Newly recruited national player Akeal Hosein made an unbeaten 42 that took Queen's Park to 160/5 before bad light ended play around 5 pm. Parkites skipper Justin Guillem contributed 38, while Marlon Barclay struck 28. Clevon Kallawan (2/21) and Shazan Babwah (2/63) grabbed two wickets apiece for Clarke Road.
Over at California, Aranguez started their innings but could only get to 7/1, before the rains came and ended play for the day.
All other matches that were carded to begin yesterday, never got going. There was no action between Esmeralda and Moosai, Diamond versus Bamboo and the Merry Boys/Comets encounter was also called off due to rain.
