Friday, May 3, 2013

Skillz that Killz became the latest team to book a spot in the six-team national final when it retained the South Zone title in the 2013 edition of the Guinness Street Football Challenge, at the La Brea basketball court, two weeks ago.

A sudden-death penalty from Desi Lara confirmed Skillz that Killz’s spot in the final at the expense of Cochrane Youths after the two teams ended regulation time tied 1-1. T&T youth international Juma Clarence netted the lone goal for the winner before Kellon Primus sent the match to spot kicks with a second half item. Skillz that Killz consists a strong team including T&TEC FC player Jamal Ayres, who scored a double at the semifinal stage, and his club teammate Bevon Bass, who also recorded a goal. Emerging as the winner of the skills challenge was Karim Gibson, who will contest among the best at the national final.

Skillz that Killz joins Tobago champion Drifterz Answer Back in the $25,000 national final to contend for a spot in the regional final, which will take place in St Vincent from June 19-21. The final will take place at King George V Park basketball court on May 18.

The Central playoff carded for last Saturday at the Edinburgh 500 basketball court was rained out and has been rescheduled for next Friday at 6 pm.

Tomorrow, the East Zone playoff will be played at La Horquetta basketball court, from 5 pm.
