North East­ern's Shyien Tran­coso thrilled lo­cal fans at the Queen's Park Sa­van­nah, Port of Spain, Trinidad when he won the At­lantic Na­tion­al Pri­ma­ry Schools 3k Road Race, giv­ing his Dis­trict their sec­ond con­sec­u­tive vic­to­ry and lead­ing home a su­perb 1-2-3 for the cham­pi­ons.

The San­gre Grande SDA stu­dent broke clear of his ri­vals com­ing down the Queen's Park East stretch and nev­er looked back. Tran­coso com­plet­ed the course in the time of 10:54.

Run­ning-mates Jonathan Shears and Is­rael Di­az chased home the win­ner. Shears at­tends Matelot RC and Di­az, Ram­panal­gas RC.

Gar­net An­toine was Ca­roni's top placed fin­ish­er in fifth with Ronal­do Dem­ming of Ma­yaro Gov­ern­ment rep­re­sent­ing South Eas­tren Coun­ties was fifth.

Fi­del Lewis of Port of Spain was sixth with Ash­mead Jones of St George East in sev­enth. Dar­rion Williams of Bethes­da Gov't was the first fin­ish­er for To­ba­go.

In the girls cat­e­go­ry, the re­sult was no dif­fer­ent as twelve-year-old Aaliyah Mitchell romped to an im­pres­sive win in the time of 12:31.

The stu­dent from Ju­bilee Pres­by­ter­ian had some twen­ty me­tres to spare the sec­ond placed Clau­dine An­toine who rep­re­sent­ed Ca­roni Ed­u­ca­tion Dis­trict.

The Las Lo­mas RC Girl ath­lete was an­oth­er 15 me­tres ahead of third placed Ashakie Ha­gley of East St. George who hails from San Juan Girls Gov­ern­ment.

North East­ern saw an­oth­er of their ath­letes past the post fourth through Pre­cious Bal­four of Groves­nor Pres­by­ter­ian who fin­ished a me­tres ahead of Za­kiya Williams of Port of Spain and En­vi­rons.

To­ba­go's best fe­male fin­ish­er was Se­le­na El­lis of Ma­son Hall Govt.

Last year, North East­ern took both ti­tles and look like­ly to whip de­throne Port of Spain & En­vi­rons at the Na­tion­al Pri­ma­ry School Cham­pi­onship on May 22nd at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um in Mu­cu­rapo.

The last time Port of Spain and En­vi­rons won the Na­tion­al 3K was 2011 when Ha­keem Alexan­der and Shirley Sta­ple­ton both of St Do­minic's RC were vic­to­ri­ous.

North East­ern won the Cham­pi­on Dis­trict Tro­phy af­ter plac­ing 20 of the Top 50 Male Fin­ish­ers and 10 of the Top 50 Fe­male fin­ish­ers.

The Na­tion­al Pri­ma­ry School 3K Road Race will be held in the South East Ed­u­ca­tion Dis­trict in 2011.

The event, which was first held in 1995, was staged in Port of Spain for on­ly the third time. School Su­per­vi­sor III–Tal­i­ba Ay­o­dike, School Su­per­vi­sor III–Jen­ny­lynne Cyrille and At­lantic's Man­ag­er Anil Se­u­nath of­fi­cial­ly start­ed the race at 10:15 am and 10:30am re­spec­tive­ly.

Plau­dits are in place for Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, Abe­y­ola Akowe and her Port of Spain Ed­u­ca­tion Dis­trict for host­ing a very ef­fi­cient and ef­fec­tive At­lantic Na­tion­al 3K for the spon­sors.

At­ten­tion will now shift to the Na­tion­al Pri­ma­ry School Track and Field Cham­pi­onships, which will be held on Wednes­day 22nd May at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um.

Port-of-Spain and En­vi­rons are the reign­ing three time cham­pi­ons but they will be test­ed by two-times cham­pi­on To­ba­go with North East­ern, East St George, St Patrick and Ca­roni all like­ly to go close if not win the cham­pi­onship.
