Plipdeco earned their first points of the SIS Industrial Cricket League 2013 with a victory over Yara (Trinidad) Limited on Friday. Having been undefeated till then, Yara batted first knowing that they were set for a tough battle against a Plidpeco team that won the knockout tournament on the opening night of the league.
Plipdeco were clinical in the field early on and their excellent throwing accounted for two crucial run outs, claiming opener Ronald Surujbally (15) and captain Adesh Tookai (0). Yara consolidated well though as Imtiaz Mohammed batted sensibly and saw his team to 45/4 by the sixth over. Plipdeco fought back though as they took four wickets for just fourteen runs in the last four overs to restrict Yara to fifty nine for eight.
In their reply, Plipdeco got an excellent start through openers M Mungroo and T Beepath.
They lost their first wicket on eighteen runs when Beepath was caught in deep midwicket going for a maximum off of Adesh Tookai. A Aziz joined Mungroo and the pair batted well against a strong Yara bowling attack. Aziz scored a well played 17 runs and saw his team to a comfortable 52 runs before he was out bowled by Imtiaz Mohammed in the penultimate over.
Plipdeco got to their target with three balls to spare losing just two wickets in the process.
Over at Plipdeco Ground, PCS Nitrogen humbled last year's runners up and hosts, Super Industrial Services Limited, with a commanding 53 run victory. Batting first, PCS Nitrogen powered themselves to 81 runs in their ten overs as they blasted SIS's bowlers to all parts of the ground.
