National record holder Aleesha Barber captured the women's 100m hurdles at the 2nd annual Cayman Invitational in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, on Wednesday. The 2010 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games champion took the top spot in the women's 100m hurdles in 13.04, producing a strong finish to cross the line first.
Though Barber's winning time was well off her national mark of 12.85, the former Penn State University student still improved her season's best of 13.10. Barber is the 2010 NCAA Division one bronze medallist.
Olympic 4x400m relay bronze medallist Jarrin Solomon was second in the men's 400m in a season's best of 45.65 while Jamaal James finished sixth in the men's 1500m in 3 min 53.43 seconds.
Also in winner's row was Rondel Sorillo who raced to the the top spot at the Guadeloupe International Meet in Baie Mahault in Guadeloupe. The 2011 World Championships 200m finalist secured the 100m title in 10.21, a season's best.
Jehue Gordon was runner-up in the men's 400m hurdles improving his 2013 time to 49.05 from 49.26 which the 2010 World Junior Champion ran four days earlier in Jamaica.
