Kyle Lee kept his nerve on Fri­day night to lead El Do­ra­do East Sec­ondary to their sec­ond con­sec­u­tive Pow­er­gen Sec­ondary Schools T20 ti­tle with a nar­row two wick­et win over Bar­rack­pore West Sec­ondary at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre. Bar­rack­pore West won the toss and de­cid­ed to bat first. Cap­tain Keron Kan­hai and Quane Ra­goo­nanan laid a sol­id foun­da­tion for their team, get­ting to 34 with­out loss. How­ev­er, Tevon Jadoo then dis­missed both bats­men in quick suc­ces­sion, Kan­hai for nine and Ra­goo­nanan for 21.

Dil­lon Mo­hammed, who top-scored with 33, then stead­ied the ship. Mo­hammed shared in a 36 run third wick­et part­ner­ship with Jeron Mani­ram (20), fol­lowed by a 41 run fourth wick­et part­ner­ship with Bran­don Jag­ger­nauth (26). How­ev­er, a mid­dle and low­er or­der col­lapse, lim­it­ed Bar­rack­pore to 138/8 in their 20 overs. Ka­reem Hamil­ton grabbed 3/16, while Jadoo fin­ished with 2/18.In their run chase, na­tion­al U-19 bats­man Ewart Nichol­son top-scored with 29, while Ja­malee John­son and Kyle Ra­moutar both con­tributed 21. When John­son and Ra­moutar fell, it was the Kyle Lee show.

Lee came to the crease with the score on 113/5, still need­ing 26 runs to clinch the ti­tle. Lee kept his cool, mak­ing an un­beat­en 21 off 14 balls to lead El Do home with on­ly one ball re­main­ing. Mo­hammed and Kan­hai both fin­ished with fig­ures of 2/21.Ear­li­er in the girls T20 fi­nal, Fyz­abad Sec­ondary got past Bar­rack­pore East by five wick­ets. Bat­ting first, Bar­rack­pore was led by a bril­liant un­beat­en 46 from Sha­nia Ab­dool that took the team to a com­pet­i­tive 144/8. Ab­dool was ably as­sist­ed by Sara­da Ma­hadeo (30). Aman­da John and Lil­ly Sura­jbal­ly were the pick of the bowlers for Fyz­abad, snatch­ing 3/24 and 2/32 re­spec­tive­ly.In re­ply, an ex­cel­lent 61 run sec­ond wick­et part­ner­ship be­tween Karisa Ramkisson (38) and Is­abel­la Levine (28) set up the win for Fyz­abad. Alana John al­so con­tributed a valu­able 31, while Aman­da Nanan took 2/38 and Hema Jag­nanan grabbed 1/25. Fyz­abad got to their tar­get with sev­en balls to spare.
