Akeela Oliv­er scored a pair of goals as Mal­ick City sound­ed a warn­ing to all op­po­nents in the T&T Women's League Foot­ball Pre­mier Di­vi­sion with a 3-1 whip­ping of de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Re­al Di­men­sion on Fri­day last at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies, St Au­gus­tine Ground.

Mal­ick City was ready from the blow of the whis­tle and took the lead as ear­ly as the sec­ond minute when Oliv­er got past a de­fend­er and took a curl­ing shot to the first post that was out of the reach of Re­al Di­men­sion cus­to­di­an, Keri My­ers.

Re­al Di­men­sion tried to turn it up and get back on lev­el terms in the match be­fore the half with in­di­vid­ual skill and strong pass­ing game, but too of­ten their shots at goal were ei­ther to high over­bar or wide of the tar­get.

In the sec­ond half, Mal­ick City seemed more de­ter­mined to go af­ter their op­po­nents and would be re­ward­ed when My­ers mis­tak­en­ly passed the ball to the on­com­ing Oliv­er who made no mis­take and got her­self on the score­sheet once again to put her team, 2-0 ahead.

Re­al Di­men­sion did not give up but had sev­er­al failed at­tempts un­til Ala­nia Bur­gin took a shot that was too much for Mal­ick goal­keep­er Shalette Alexan­der to han­dle and an alert Shanelle Hen­ry was on spot to blast home the re­bound to cut the lead in half in the 80th minute.

How­ev­er, three min­utes lat­er Mal­ick sealed all three points when My­ers brought down Oliv­er, in the penal­ty-area for cap­tain Anas­ta­sia Prescott to con­vert the spot kick.

At the Ed­die Hart Ground, Tu­na­puna, War­rick sis­ters, Shanelle and Jonelle were both on tar­get for Trinci­ty Na­tion­als in a 2-0 blank­ing of De­fence Force.

In oth­er match­es played, the na­tion­al Un­der-17's twice came from be­hind to draw with Step by Step 2-2while St Ann's Rangers drew 1-1 with St. Au­gus­tine FC.
