The Moosai Ladies made it two Premiership titles in a row on Saturday with a 31-run win over Phoenix Women in the T&T Women's Cricket Association (TTWCA) 40-over League. The win meant Moosai finished the season unbeaten. Moosai played ten matches this season, winning eight and the other two ended in a no result.
Batting first, Moosai posted a modest 158/9 off their 40 overs. National players Amanda Samaroo (64) and Kirbyina Alexander (57) both made half-centuries. For Phoenix, Britney Cooper (2/20), Loretta Eligon (2/31) and Leandra Ramdeen (2/32) all snatched two wickets.
In reply, Phoenix would have fancied their chances chasing 159.However, slow medium bowler Leeann Kirby had other ideas. Kirby's 4/20, along with Alexander's 2/26, restricted the Phoenix batsmen to 127 all out. Shenelle Lord top-scored with 37 in the losing effort. Moosai ended the season on 26 points, while Phoenix finished in second position on 20 points.
In another Premiership match, Stacy-Ann King blasted 78 to lead Technocrats to a crushing nine-wicket win over Cricket Lovers at the Pinto Recreation Ground. Technocrats finished in third spot, while Cricket Lovers ended the season fifth.
