The last T&T Triathlon Federation (TTTF) training event leading up to the Rainbow Cup International Triathlon, as well as the Pan American Championships, will take place at Chagville, Chaguaramas, on Sunday from 7 am.
The Keep Fit race will not feature medals as it is non-competitive. A large turnout, however, is expected as was for the last one staged in February. Members of the TTTF and the general public are invited to attend. Those who register for TTTF membership will benefit from reduced registration fees for events sanctioned by the federation.
The event is not only targeted at athletes for a test of their fitness, but it is also a qualifier for the juniors and seniors for the Pan-Am event, which will be held in Edmonton, Canada, next month. Many triathletes will also use the opportunity to prepare for next month's Neal and Massy Rainbow Cup, an event hosted by the Rainbow Warriors Triathlon Club.
The presence of the top athletes is mandated if they wish to qualify to represent T&T.
The Keep Fit will also feature a "Try-a-Tri" race, which is essentially a shorter version of the course for beginners who have never competed in a triathlon before.
Also included is a duathlon sprint distance race for the ones who would rather not swim.
The registration fees for TTTF members are $20 (children) and $40 (adults), while non-members are $40 (children) and $80 (members).
Registration is on the morning of the race from 5.30 am to 6.30 am.
