Digicel Pro Bowl title-holder Defence Force, buoyed by its 5-0 thrashing of T&TEC in their quarterfinal meeting a week ago, will be confident of getting past two-time winner DirecTV W Connection when both teams meet in the feature match of a semifinal double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, from 8 pm.
Two hours earlier, North East Stars and league debutants Central FC face-off in the first semifinal, with both clubs chasing a first-ever appearance in the tournament's showpiece encounter.
While not downplaying the importance of the first semifinal, it is expected to serve as an appetiser to the clash between Defence Force and W Connection, also a three-time runner-up.
So far this season, both Defence Force and W Connection have met four times, with the "Teteron Boys" victorious on three previous meetings, 2-1 and 5-1 in league play, and 3-0 in the Classic semis.
However, the "Savonetta Boys" won their latest meeting 4-0 on May 6, in the penultimate round of league matches.
Speaking ahead of their fifth match-up for the 2012/2013 season, St Lucian-born Stuart Charles-Fevrier, coach of W Connection, warned that his team, had been more consistent over the last couple of weeks and would be up for the challenge.
Charles-Fevrier said, "We will be facing the Digicel Pro League and reigning Pro Bowl champions who we beat in a recent encounter and we know they will be eager to take revenge, but we are very confident that we can repeat our performance and get another win to reach the final."
Tonight, though, Charles-Fevrier will be forced into a tactical change as Colombian defender Christian Viveros sits out the match due to suspension, while influential midfielder Joevin Jones, who missed last week's match due to injury is likely to start on the bench.
On the other hand, Defence Force is expected to be at full strength as they seek a second title this season.
Marvin Gordon, Defence Force's assistant coach, was quick to point out that he expected a very difficult match as W Connection has proven itself to be one of the top clubs in the country.
"They handed us a sound beating in our last encounter and our guys we are a much better team than that and will be out to prove so.
"In the 4-0 loss, we did not have our best match and since then we have done some work on the training ground to improve on the areas that were weak in that contest and we are eager to get back at them."
Gordon also said that his team had a few injury concerns and one could expect to see a few young players like Adrian Welch and Dave Long being given their chance.
In the opening semifinals, it is anyone's guess who will come away with victory, if the results between both Stars and Central FC this season are anything to go by.
As during the Pro League campaign, Stars had a 1-0 win in the opening round before former San Juan Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick turned things around with a 2-1 second round win, and a 0-0 draw in the other.
In the Lucozade Sports Goal Shield quarterfinal, Stars secured a 1-0 win on its way to the final where it lost to W Connection, but with the Pro Bowl providing a last chance to pick up some silverware, both teams will be no doubt be pumped up for the contest.
The winners of tonight's contest will face off in the final at Mucurapo, on Wednesday from 8 pm for the $100,000 prize which will be increased by a percentage of the gate receipts throughout the competition.
In addition to the winner's prize, there are also individual awards for the top Scorer, most valuable player and most outstanding coach of $2,000, $2,000 and $3,000, respectively.
