Matthew Mar­quez, Wan Joo Lee and Sachin Ku­mar, who helped T&T to a sec­ond-placed fin­ish at last year's Caribbean Am­a­teur Ju­nior Golf Cham­pi­onship, has been in­clud­ed in the 13-per­son squad to chal­lenge this year's com­pe­ti­tion, which will take place in the Cay­man Is­lands in Ju­ly.The trio have been in fine form as of late and are ex­pect­ed, as with sev­er­al oth­er high-pro­file names in the team, to vie for top places.

The team al­so in­cludes run­ner-up in the girl's 16-17 di­vi­sion last year, Christi­na Fer­reira, along with the ever im­prov­ing Ys­abel­la Lawrence and Ser­e­na Macken­zie.Lead­ing the team is coach Chris Richards, a for­mer Caribbean Se­nior Am­a­teur cham­pi­on, who spoke of his con­fi­dence in the team's abil­i­ty to chal­lenge for the ti­tles."We spent the first week col­lect­ing in­for­ma­tion on their strengths and weak­ness­es and now the play­ers have an idea of where they need to im­prove and fast," said Richards.

"We're fo­cus­ing on the short game and course man­age­ment and I am con­fi­dent that these kids will be ready to put in a se­ri­ous chal­lenge for the tro­phy this year."T&T Golf As­so­ci­a­tion ju­nior golf co-or­di­na­tor, An­dre Collins, said the prepa­ra­tions had been go­ing well but em­pha­sised the need for con­tin­ued cor­po­rate sup­port."We have the sup­port of a sport psy­chol­o­gist Na­dine Sam­my from SporTT (Sport Com­pa­ny of T&T) who has been do­ing a fan­tas­tic job as well."
