Rohan David walked away with the Most Valuable Player award, after T&T's D&D Auto World Legends finished as joint champions at the fourth edition of the Hotel Laurena Masters T20 cricket tournament in Carriacou earlier this month.
In the final, rain ended the match prematurely between Auto World and the USA Masters. Auto World got to 110/0 in ten overs before rains came. The teams were declared joint champions, however, Auto World took home the trophy as they ended the group stage with more points.
Prior to the final, David was in fine form, scoring three half-centuries in as many matches. In the first match against Grenada, which included former West Indies wicket-keeper Junior Murray, David struck 68 to guide Auto World to 160/4. David was ably assisted by Deonarine Deyal (38) and Richard Seechan (37).
In reply, Grenada fell 13 runs short as they were bowled out for 147. Motilal Sookdeo, who finished with the most wickets in the tournament (8), grabbed 4/19 to limit Grenada's response. Seechan was also among the wickets, taking 3/30.
In other matches, David struck 60 to lead his team to a slim two-run win over Old Boys and then made 66 in a narrow seven-run loss to the USA Masters. This trip was made possible by the National Gas Company and the Price Club Supermarket in Chaguanas.
