Defending champions, T&TEC, continued their excellent run of form on Tuesday with a strong victory over a dangerous Plipdeco unit as action continued in the SIS Industrial Cricket League. T&TEC, who have become known for their strong all-round performances, faltered early after losing Riad Adams without scoring in the very first over.
Arnold Ram and captain Devindra Kangal combined for eighteen runs before Kangal was caught off the bowling of Kenya Leacock for 12. Ram was then joined by former national cricketer Manoj Sirju and the pair batted well against a very good Plipdeco bowling attack. Ram was more of a spectator as Sirju took the game to Plipdeco in an attempt to give his bowlers a defendable total, especially with adding just 25 runs to their total after five overs. Sirju top scored with 38, which included several big hits; five of which went over the boundary. Ram chipped in with a sensible 15 as T&TEC recovered to score 77 runs after ten overs.
Plipdeco found out early on exactly why T&TEC are three-time defending champs as runs were hard to come by. After losing two early wickets, Plipdeco struggled with wickets falling in almost constant intervals. Kenya Leacock (11) and Kyle Griffith (11), gave their team some hope after taking the score from ten for two in the third over to thirty eight for three in the by the sixth over but the rest of the team could not carry on after the pair were separated.
Over at the IPSL Ground, NGC scored a competitive 82 in their ten overs, due mainly to Dale Baxter (22) and Navin Sohan (25) who displayed some hard hitting and quick scoring. Both batsmen combined for seven of the ten sixes in the innings and ensured their team got a good total. Anand Singh was the pick of the bowlers for MX, claiming three wickets for just three runs in his two overs.
In reply, openers Christian Sookhansingh and Miguel Pustam slowly deflated any hopes of victory from NGC as the pair put on an 81 run opening partnership, the highest of the competition to date.
