All-rounder Norway stars for Overcomers
Christian Norway was in fine form with both bat and ball to lead Overcomers to a comfortable six-wicket win over Law Breakers in the 45 and Over Division of the Tyro Sports Club 12-over cricket competition on May 20.
Bowling first, Norway’s superb spell restricted Law Breakers to a mediocre 71 all out. Norway finished with figures of five wickets for 20 runs in three overs. Alonzo McLeod was also among the wickets, taking two wickets for only three runs. Ronald Griffith top-scored with 14 for Law Breakers.
In reply, Overcomers rushed to 73/4 in 8.2 overs behind Norway’s unbeaten 50. Ryan Griffith was the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 3/16 in the losing effort.
In the Ladies Division, Jovanka Simon also had a brilliant all-round performance to guide Ball Players to a 33-run win over Brooklyn. Simon made 32, as Ball Players posted 119/6 in their 12 overs. National player Britney Cooper contributed 20, while Gail David made an unbeaten 18. Sherene Ramkissoon was the pick of the bowlers, snatching 3/19.
Chasing 120 for victory, Brooklyn could only muster 86/6. Simon took two wickets and also dried up the runs, conceding only 13 runs in three overs. Ria Mangroo was a bit expensive, grabbing 3/30 in three overs. Another national player, Shenelle Lord, made 15 for Brooklyn.
