All-rounder Norway stars for Overcomers

Chris­t­ian Nor­way was in fine form with both bat and ball to lead Over­com­ers to a com­fort­able six-wick­et win over Law Break­ers in the 45 and Over Di­vi­sion of the Ty­ro Sports Club 12-over crick­et com­pe­ti­tion on May 20.

Bowl­ing first, Nor­way's su­perb spell re­strict­ed Law Break­ers to a mediocre 71 all out. Nor­way fin­ished with fig­ures of five wick­ets for 20 runs in three overs. Alon­zo McLeod was al­so among the wick­ets, tak­ing two wick­ets for on­ly three runs. Ronald Grif­fith top-scored with 14 for Law Break­ers.

In re­ply, Over­com­ers rushed to 73/4 in 8.2 overs be­hind Nor­way's un­beat­en 50. Ryan Grif­fith was the pick of the bowlers, grab­bing 3/16 in the los­ing ef­fort.

In the Ladies Di­vi­sion, Jo­van­ka Si­mon al­so had a bril­liant all-round per­for­mance to guide Ball Play­ers to a 33-run win over Brook­lyn. Si­mon made 32, as Ball Play­ers post­ed 119/6 in their 12 overs. Na­tion­al play­er Brit­ney Coop­er con­tributed 20, while Gail David made an un­beat­en 18. Sherene Ramkissoon was the pick of the bowlers, snatch­ing 3/19.

Chas­ing 120 for vic­to­ry, Brook­lyn could on­ly muster 86/6. Si­mon took two wick­ets and al­so dried up the runs, con­ced­ing on­ly 13 runs in three overs. Ria Man­groo was a bit ex­pen­sive, grab­bing 3/30 in three overs. An­oth­er na­tion­al play­er, Shenelle Lord, made 15 for Brook­lyn.
