Moosai maintained their quest for three titles this season with two brilliant performances yesterday as action bowled off in the Premiership T20 T&T Women's Cricket Association (TTWCA) competition at the Dinsley Recreation Ground.
Earlier this season, Moosai won the 40-over league and the 30-over knockout competition. In Moosai's first match against Cricket Lovers at 10 am, a brilliant all-round batting performance from Moosai led them to an 82-run win over Cricket Lovers. Batting first, Moosai posted a mammoth 163/6. Amanda Samaroo (35), Chadean Nation (31) and Lee Ann Kirby (29) all made valuable contributions to the total. Nicole George was the pick of the bowlers for Cricket Lovers, picking up 1/15.
In reply, Kirby was also among the wickets, taking 3/8 to reduce Cricket Lovers to 81/7 off their 20 overs. Shari John (2/11) and Kirbyina Alexander (2/19) both grabbed two wickets to add to the demise of the Cricket Lovers batting. Only Natalie Nina offered some resistance, making 20, but it was not enough.
In their second encounter of the day, Moosai's bowling effort led the team to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Maaad Rangers. Bowling first, Moosai restricted Maaad Rangers to a dismal 57 all out.
National player Anisa Mohammed put up some fight, scoring 22. Shanella Townsend was the best bowler for Moosai, taking two wickets for only four runs.
Moosai's national players led the chase, with Samaroo top-scoring with 23 and Alexander making an unbeaten 17. Mohammed was also among the wickets, snatching 2/7, but Moosai cruised to the target in 11.4 overs.
