Central will play East in the final of the BGTT Under-15 InterZone competition tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva as both teams cruised through the semi-final round yesterday against North and South, respectively.
At Caroni Savannah, a good all-round performance from Siba Batoosingh led the Central Zone to a comprehensive nine-wicket win over North. Batoosingh finished the match with six wickets and 37 runs. Resuming day two on 27/2 in their second innings, North crawled to 129/7 of their allotted 59 overs. Batoosingh's left-arm orthodox did most of the damage, taking 4/34. Kallis Romain and Brandon Lalloo offered some resistance, making 30 and 21, respectively.
Chasing 32 for victory, Central lost only one wicket as Christian Turton (20 not out) and Batoosingh (10 not out) guided them to the target.
The East Zone also had a relatively easy semi-final match, getting past South by ten wickets at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado. Resuming on their overnight 55/5 in their second innings, the South tail did not stick around, as they were reduced to 77/9. One of South's batsmen could not bat because of an injury. Sachin Seecharan was the top bowler for East, finishing with 3/13.
This meant East needed a meagre 28 to get into the final, which they got without losing a wicket.
Jonathan Hosein (17) and Keegan Simmons (13) were the unbeaten batsmen at the crease.
