Hibiscus, UWI battle for spot in women’s T20 final
Hibiscus will tackle UWI today at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado from 2 pm for a chance to play in the final of the T&T Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) Championship T20 competition. Hibiscus may start as favourites, after reaching the final of the knockout 30-over competition on May 26. Unfortunately, the final was reduced to an one over eliminator due to rain, with Hibiscus coming out on the losing end to Moosai. A day earlier, Hibiscus upset Technocrats by eight runs in their 10-over semifinal. Hibiscus may be counting on Leah Collette to get them into the final.
Collette struck an unbeaten 37 that guided the team to the unlikely win. The UWI girls will be counting on Anastasia Herbert and Caneisha Issac to continue their good form with bat and ball respectively. Yesterday, San Rafael faced Achievers in the first semifinal match at the same venue. The date and venue of the final is yet to be confirmed.
