NEC assists Calcutta Sports
The National Energy Corporation (NEC) once again stepped up to the wicket in support of youth and community cricket in T&T when it presented a cricket pitch cover to the Calcutta Sports Club of Freeport in preparation for the upcoming cricket season recently. The Calcutta Cricket Club has been a part of the Freeport community for the past 50 years, and has produced first-class players who have graduated to the T&T team as well as to the Premiership Division.
In addition to producing great sportsmen, the club has made a positive impact on the Freeport community. In a release NEC said the club continues to be committed to youth development in the community through its youth programme. Its goal is to provide sporting opportunities for young sport enthusiasts, to discourage them from being influenced by negative elements.
It is for this reason that NEC felt it was important to partner with the club in order to help them continue to achieve their objectives. At the presentation ceremony club vice president Naushad Mohammed thanked NEC for its contribution as the club looks forward to greater collaborations with the company in the future.
