ST JOHN'S–The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has announced the staging of its Regional Under-15 Tournament set to bowl off next week at venues across Jamaica.All six teams will be in action contesting round one of the round robin tournament from July 12.Jamaica plays Barbados at St Elizabeth Technical High Schools Ground, Guyana takes on Leewards at ALPART while T&T battle Windwards at Treasure Beach.
The tournament consists of fifteen matches played over five rounds with each of the six teams playing five games.The matches, as usual, will be over two days and will be played under tailor-made rules for Under-15 cricket.In the first innings teams will bat for two and a half hours during which a minimum of 37 overs must be bowled.
No fast or medium pacer bowler will be allowed more than six overs in one spell and once the players complete a spell they must rest for a mandatory period of 40 minutes before resuming bowling.The WICB Regional Under-15 Tournament began in 1996 with T&T taking the inaugural title at home.Barbados are reigning champions, having won in 2012 when the tournament was played in St Kitts.
