Newly-promoted Bethel United will have a big challenge on its hands when the club kicks off its Blink/bmobile National Super League (NSL) campaign today against Westside Superstarz, at St Anthony's College Ground, Westmoorings, from 4 pm.
Bethel was the only team on a bye when the NSL kicked off last weekend. But, Westside, which lost its first match last season before going on a brilliant unbeaten run and finished in third place at the end of the league, had a good start to the season with a 3-0 win over Tobago's 1976 FC Phoenix, at home on Wednesday.
The result, after Match Day One, put Westside at the top of the standings on goal difference.Perhaps today's most highly anticipated fixture is that of 2011 treble winner Joe Public and reigning champion WASA FC, both of which failed to win their first match. Joe Public playing at home last Sunday was held to a goalless draw by another newly-promoted team Guaya United, while WASA FC, also at home suffered a 2-0 defeat by Club Sando.
Joe Public will host WASA at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, from 4 pm.FC Santa Rosa is on a bye for the weekend.
