T&T women lose to Guyana in WICB T20
Erva Giddings was to good for the national women’s cricket team yesterday, snatching 4/22 to guide Guyana to a comfortable 27-run win in round one of the West Indies Cricket Board Regional T20 competition in Grenada. Guyana made a competitive 127/4 batting first at Tanteen. Shemaine Campbelle (37) and June Ogle (29) led from the front for Guyana, while Kirbyina Alexander took 2/30 for T&T.
In response, T&T got off to a disastrous start, as they were quickly reduced to 32/5. Despite a courageous 31 from Shenelle Lord, T&T could only muster 100/9 in their 20 overs. Giddings fast-medium did most of the damage, while Tremayne Smartt dried up the runs, grabbing 2/12 in four overs. Britney Cooper also fought hard for T&T, scoring 21. T&T will try to bounce back when they face Grenada tomorrow at Progress Park in round two action.
