Club Sando seeks six-point lead in Super League
Six points will separate top-of-the-table Club Sando from second-placed and similarly unbeaten Guaya United if the former team takes a win at home to visiting 1976 FC Phoenix of Tobago in match day ten of the blink/bmobile National Super League. The match, which takes place at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, will kick off from 4 pm, as with the four other fixtures. Guaya United, which sits second in the standings with seven wins and one draw in eight matches was scheduled to take on Defence Force, but the fixture was rescheduled to September 24, due to the Teteron Boys' commitments in the Independence Day parade.
In today's feature match, Club Sando will be looking to maintain its fine form against the Phoenix, which sits sixth in the 13-team standings with three wins, as many draws and one loss. The host has been the second strongest team in attack with 25 goals in nine fixtures, while it is the toughest team to break down with only six goals conceded all season. Phoenix has also proved almost unbeatable this season. The team has conceded just seven goals, but has struggled to score.
Only three teams have scored fewer goals than Phoenix's nine. The Tobago club is off of a goalless draw with 2011 treble winner Joe Public, while Club Sando is off an easy 3-0 win over Bethel United. Perhaps the most exciting fixture in today's agenda is Westside Superstarz's clash with Malabar FC, at St Anthony's College Ground, O'Meara. Three points separate the two teams, Malabar and Westside, which sits third and fourth, respectively, in the standings. Westside also has a match in hand.
