The incumbent executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (T&TCB) has rebounded strongly after a surprising setback as momentum builds up to the organisation's annual general meeting next month. After securing only one of six votes up for grabs on the National League elections on Tuesday, the "Movement for Change" group led by Azim Bassarathm crushed their rivals in elections held in the North East and South East zones. In both instances the margin of victory was 6-0 over the challenge spearheaded by former regional players Dinanath Ramnarine and Daren Ganga which handed the advantage back to the present administration.
In North East, chairman Arjoon Ramlal led the charge for the Bassarath supporters as he and zone secretary tallied 27 votes each followed by Mitra Ragoonanan, Ravi Motilal, Parasrsam Singh and Caril Rampersad who all got 25 votes. Also in the fray were Brendon de la Rosa (9), Tiram Persaud (8), Vishnu Rambaran (7), Kelvin Mahabir (7) and Damian Nagai (7).And in the South East Zone it was a similar wipeout as club representatives met at the Princes Town West Secondary and selected the slate led by incumbent zone chairman Kelvin Mohammed (30).Also selected on the slate favouring Bassarath were Ian Lalla (29), Rydell Ramsaran (28), Samlal Sookoo (29), Bhim Saugh (29), and Dasson Neaves (27).Chairman Mohammed said 26 clubs attended the elections which comprised 52 votes and he was pleased with the outcome and confident that Bassarath and his team will be returned to office next month.
