Red Force faces Perth in warm-up today
T&T cricketers will be hoping that the rain eases so that they can get in their warm-up clash against the Perth Scorchers today ahead of their first match of the Karbonn Smart champions League T20 series tomorrow against the Brisbane Heat. The rain has been falling since the team reached Ranchi in Eastern India and manager Omar Khan is hoping for the best: “The team has settled well after the long flight to Ranchi. We had our first practice session on Thursday at the Indoor nets at the Ranchi Stadium. It has been raining since our arrival and it’s very wet outside. The ground was unfit for outside training hence the use of the indoor nets.”
The team practiced again yesterday and weather was inclement as well. They used the time to keep a very intense team meeting. “We had a team meeting where all the officials assigned to the team were introduced and spoke of their roles with the team. “The team spirit is great and we are all supporting one another which is our strength as a team.Their are no injury concerns and all players are fit and raring to go.” Ranchi is a developing city in India with a lot of street activities and very crowded and narrow roads.
The team was met by the security and liaison officers at the Airport and they are still with them as a means of ensuring that the tournament comes off clean from any unwanted off-field incidents.
The match gets underway at 4 pm Indian time which will be 7.30 am TT time. There are still places on the national team to be decided and this match will give those on the fringe a chance to seal a spot when the main action starts tomorrow.
