Fyzabad Secondary, newly crowned league champion of South, earned a spot in the final after taking a spot-kick win over Tobago winner Bishop's High School, in the opening BGTT First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Girls' Big-Four semifinal clash, yesterday.
With no goals scored after 90 minutes, at Skinner Park, San Fernando, extra time was required, but again neither school could break the deadlock.
In the end, kicks from the penalty spot were needed to separate the two schools. Fyzabad then took the shoot-out 3-1.
The win put Fyzabad into next Monday's Big-Four final, where it is scheduled to meet the winner of tomorrow's other semifinal, carded between Bishop's Anstey and St Augustine Secondary at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, from 2 pm.
The start of the Boys' Big-Five competition was also scheduled to kick off last night, but the clash between Presentation College of San Fernando and Speyside Secondary started an hour later due to the required extra time in the girls' fixture, thus finishing after press time.
The winner of last night's encounter will head into the semifinal where it will meet new Central champion Chaguanas North Secondary, on Thursday.
Presentation and Speyside were the only two zonal winners required to play a play-off match for a spot in the semifinal.
North winner, St Mary's College and East champion St Augustine Secondary automatically qualified for the semifinals along with Chaguanas North.
St Mary's and St Augustine will meet at the Larry Gomes Stadium, from 4 pm. The final is also carded for next Monday, at a venue to be determined.
