Led by record breaking performances from Jamhia Harley and Kael Yorke, the Tidal Wave Aquatics of T&T club emerged as the top club at the Amateur Swimming Association of T&T (ASATT) Annual Invitational Swimming Championships on Sunday at Marlins Swimming Pool, Westmoorings.
Harley and Yorke broke three records apiece, as Tidal Wave ended the tournament with a combined overall score of 1080.5 points, ahead of Marlins (715) and Titans (659.5).
Harley broke the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and the 200m freestyle records in the girls 9-10 age group, while in the boys 11-12 category, Yorke crushed records in the 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle and 200m butterfly. Another record was broken at the meet, which was done by Jeron Thompson (Atlantis Aquatics) in the boys 11-12 50m breaststroke. Tidal Wave also won the most medals overall.
The competitors were treated by Republic Bank, the title sponsor of the tournament. Joseph Mcleod, president of ASATT, also accepted gifts on behalf of all the swimmers that took part. For more details about the competition you can visit www.swimtt.com, as well as its facebook page.
