Defending champion Defence Force and Valencia Heat secured back-to-back wins in the Mackeson Super 10 Basketball League over the weekend.The biggest victory was recorded by Valencia Heat which rallied to record a 93-90 win over Caledonia Clippers in overtime on Saturday night at the Maloney Sports Complex, a day before, Valencia outplayed Sange Grande All Stars 69-51 at the Mayaro Indoors Sports facility.Saturday's win was secured by Fabrice Fisher, who scored nine out of his team's 13 in the five-minute overtime session.
Fisher recorded 31 points, a season-best, for the game. Valencia led the first quarter, 25-20, but was outscored in the second session, 11-16. However, the scores were tied 36-36 at the interval.
Caledonia again outscored the opposition, 25-19, to fall behind, 61-55, after the third stanza. However, it was in the fourth quarter all the excitement unfolded with Valencia getting the better of Caledonia 26-20 to level the scores, thanks to a Fisher basket on the buzzer, which pushed the contest into over-time.Centre Dwayne Virgil supported Fisher with 21 points, while Michael Saunders added 11. Wesley Vincent was Caledonia's best scorer with 18 points, followed by centre Shawn Lawrence who contributed 15.
