T&T Defence Force FC will have its toughest task to date when it takes on league leader DirecTV W Connection in the first round of action for the year as Digicel TT Pro League action resumes today. The first versus third clash is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Wrightson Road, two hours after struggling pair Caledonia AIA and Point Fortin Civic open the national stadium double-header from 6 pm.
Connection, off a first draw for the season in the final match before the Christmas break last month, would have had ample time to regroup as it aims to continue its dominance in league competition. Defence Force, meanwhile, off four wins and three losses after seven matches, will be desperate to take away a result to keep tabs at the top, where it ended last season as champion.
A day later, mid-table North East Stars will take on rock-bottom St Ann's Rangers in Arima, with the latter team hoping to improve its paltry record of one win and six losses in seven league fixtures. On Sunday, action will return to the Hasely Crawford Stadium, where Central FC is likely to utilise its newest and significant signing of T&T international midfielder Ataulla Guerra in a clash with secon-from-bottom San Juan Jabloteh. That fixture will kick off at 5 pm.
