It was a productive 2013 for local kickboxing, and among its stars was Rebecca Bhola, who was promoted to third degree black belt by the Brazilian Traditional Kickboxing Federation (CBKBT).
In July, Bhola passed all her technical and academic requirements to earn the promotion. Bhola, who is the General Secretary of the T&T Mixed Martial Arts Association, is an accomplished national and regional kickboxing champion and a successful promoter.
She is also a referee in the sport, holding an 'A' referee license from the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) and is a CBKBT National Referee. In addition, Bhola has a 'C' Grade (WUKO rules) with the T&T Karate Federation (TTKF) and is a graduate of the American Sport Education Program (ASEP) Coaching Principles course.
The accolades do not stop there for Bhola, as she holds a black belt in Shito-Ryu Karate and Nihon Ju-Jitsu (ISKF-Japan). Despite her busy schedule, the kickboxer still finds time to pass on her knowledge, as a senior instructor with Bushido Karate and Ju-Jitsu Dojo in Carapichaima.
