The Queen's Park batsmen continued their form yesterday on day two of the national cricket three-day trial match, led by Petrock Nicholas, as the Yannick Ottley XI bounced back at the National Cricket Centre in Couva.Earlier in the day, resuming on its overnight 240/8, the Jason Mohammed XI tail showed some resistance, getting to 276 all out. Yannic Cariah added ten runs to his overnight 35, while leg-spinner Imran Khan was the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 3/31. Queen's Park batsman Jonathan Augustus top-scored for the Mohammed XI with 85.
In reply, the Ottley XI got off to an excellent start thanks to Queen's Park's (Parkite) Adrian Barath and Powergen's Evin Lewis. The pair put on 94 for the first wicket, but both batsmen fell just short of half-centuries. Barath scored 47, while Lewis contributed 43. Barath and Lewis were both recently included in the T&T squad for the upcoming NAGICO Super50 tournament, which bowls off in T&T on January 30.
The Ottley XI was then reduced to 135/3 when Kjorn Ottley fell for 29, but Parkite Petrock Nicholas regained control for his team, making 60 as the Ottley XI closed on 228/5, 48 runs behind. Off spin bowler Amit Jaggernauth snatched 2/25.Today will be the third and final day of the match.
