Hillview College and El Dorado East Secondary, winners of the two PowerGen Secondary Schools cricket titles last year, will be among 24 schools competing in the one day Super Sixes tournament today from 9 am.
Matches will be played simultaneously at the National Cricket Centre (NCC), Couva, Balmain Recreation Ground, (Couva), and at Gilbert Park (California), followed by the finals at NCC. Twenty male and four female teams are expected to participate in the five-over matches (five overs per team). The boys teams will be divided into four groups of five, while the girls will play in one group.
Hillview clinched the boys 50-over league title in the final round of competition last season, defeating Union Claxton Bay by four wickets.
In the final of the T20 tournament, El Dorado East chased down a competitive 139 against Barrackpore West Secondary to win by two wickets, with one ball to spare.
Following the Super Sixes tournament, the 50-over edition will bowl off on Tuesday.
