Rigtech Sonics cyclist Keron Bramble made it two wins from two races for the southern-based club, after he captured the main event at the Diego Martin Highway Road League yesterday.
Two weeks ago, Barry Luces of Sonics took the main event in the first road league of the year.
The main event featured elite cyclists (1, 2, 3), juniors , masters 40-49 men and senior women, who covered the 2.4km criterium course for 45 minutes plus two laps. At the halfway mark, a six-man breakaway consisting of Bramble, Gene Samuel (The Braves), Roger Malco (Team Foundation), James Hadeed (Heatwave), Guy Costa (Heatwave) and Kirk Hearn (Subway Slipstream) pulled away from the lead bunch for good.
Even the valiant effort by Hadeed to leave the lead bunch with two laps remaining would not spoil Bramble's day in the sun.
Bramble appeared around the final corner with a healthy three bicycle length lead as Samuel and Malco battled for runner up positions. Malco had the better push at the end taking second place overall. The 54-year-old Samuel would have to settle for third while Hadeed arrived in fourth.
Earlier in the day, Gevan Samuel (The Braves) outsprinted Adam Alexander (Team Foundation) to take the Elite (1, 2, 3) three-lap event. Akil Campbell (Rigtech Sonics) took his second junior men victory, ahead of Sei Daniel (Arima Wheelers), while Keiana Lester (Bike Smith CC) upset Tamiko Butler (Mike's Bikes) in the Senior Ladies Division.
Tyler Cole (Rigtech Sonics) continued his good form to take the Juveniles category, while Jabari Whiteman (Southclaine) took the top prize in the Tinymites category.
