Point-guard Adrain Joseph scored 10 of his 24 points in the final quarter, which was instrumental in helping his team, Petro Jazz, secure a 95-85 win over Maloney Pacers, when action continued in the Men's Open Division in the Super 10 Basketball League, on Friday night.
The fixture was staged at the Maloney Indoor Sports Complex. Jazz controlled much of the encounter before extending its winning streak to six matches, moving it into second place of 13 teams. Joseph was well supported by veteran forward Ako Pascall and Dextroy Manswell who scored 20 and 12 points, respectively.
Playing with two key players in point-guard Jerrol Orr and forward Di'Omar Martin, Maloney Pacers still managed to outscore Jazz 49-36 in the second half behind a game-high of 30 points from the prolific forward Kyeon Joseph. Team-mates Gimel Lewis helped with 20, while forward Maurice Francis added 10.
Meanwhile, Mackeson Monarchs suffered its seventh straight defeat, this time in a 80-66 loss to the University of T&T (UTT).
For UTT, which dominated from start to finish, team captain Kerry Celestine led the way with 20 points, while centre Nicholas Medina contributed 19 points, and forward Patrick Scipio, 14. Forwards Asfa Grant netted 19 points, to lead Monarchs' scorers, while Louie Davis and Kwesi Marryshaw got their names on the score-sheet with 12 points each.
