Goal-attack Joelisa Cooper had her best outing since transferring from Fire Services at the end of last season when she converted 35 of her 38 attempts to inspire Police to a resounding 57-12 blowout of the University of the West Indies (UWI) team in the Premier Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball.

This was at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua on Tuesday night.

In addition to national player Cooper, the Law-women, beaten 32-38 in their opener by the unbeaten newcomer Game Changers, also got 22 goals from 27 attempts from goal-shooter Janice Mc Intosh as they coasted to the 45-goal win after leading 12-2, 20-8 and 39-9 at the end of the first three quarters ahead of their battle with Fire (1-1) tonight for second spot at the end of the half-way stage of the league.

UWI, which was also coming off defeats in its two previous matches against Fire (29-44) and Game Changers (19-47), got a team-high seven goals from 12 attempts by goal-attack Tanisha Rock-Yaw while Abeni Taylor added three and Akeela Rodriguez, two in the loss, which made certain of cellar-spot at the end of round-one.

The night’s opening encounter in the Championship Division was also a lopsided affair as goal-shooter Aquila Blugh and goal-attack Ayana Peters combined to secure a 44-22 win for Fire over Jabloteh.

Blugh ended with 28 goals from 46 attempts and Peters, 16 from 21 for Fire, which after leading 13-4 at the end of the first quarter never looked back.

At the other end of the court, Jabloteh was limited in attack with only La Toya Thomas, scoring in double-figures from four players, with 11 from 15.
