Marcus Pascal scored a hat-trick to lead Fatima College to a comfortable 3-0 shut-out of South East Port-Spain, in the Boys Division of the T&T Hockey Board Secondary Schools League at the St James Barracks Ground, Western Main Road, St James on Friday afternoon.Pascal got his goals in 18th and 19th minute for Fatima to lead 2-0 at the half-time interval before he added his third in the 39th minute for the win, its second in as many matches after whipping St Mary's College, 3-1 in its opener.With the win, Fatima improved to maximum six points from two matches, the same as its next opponent, Queen's Royal College (QRC) which it faces on February 7 from 5.15pm.In the day's first match, SEPoS girls pulled off a stunner, blanking Providence Girls' High, 2-0 thanks to goals from Zene Henry in the ninth minute and Mariah Boucaud, five minutes.
The win was the first for SEPoS after losing its opener to Holy Name Convent (PoS), by the same margin for a share of the lead with its rivals. In an effort to encourage participation at the youth level and increase the numbers involved in the sport, the T&THB and its Development Committee have made a concerted effort to get traditional hockey playing in schools involved in its Development Programme involved. As a result the league comprise of six boys teams and five girls teams in all, with matches being played every Wednesday and Friday until February 28.For the schools which have recently become involved in the T&THB's Development Program the local board will host its Secondary Schools Minor-League Tournament on Friday March, 21, 2014 from 8am to 5pm at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua, for schools in the North, West and East Zones and at Debe High School, Debe for schools in the South and Central Zones.The sponsors of this league are the Sport Company of T&T (SporTT) and Blue Waters
