Fast bowler Jerome Taylor reminded the West Indies selectors of his ability when he claimed 334 as Jamaica took control of their Nagico Super50 match against Ireland at the Queen's Park Oval, yesterday.
Apart from an opening partnership of 54 between William Porterfield (25) and Naill O'Brien (35), and 30 from Alex Cusack, the Irish batsmen folded tamely for 161 in 46.1 overs.
Ireland won the toss and opted to bat and the openers vindicated that decision as they posted a half century stand without much fuss.
But once Porterfield was dismissed by Dave Bernard, there was a steady procession to and from the pavillion in the face of some feeble batting.
Andre Russell took 3/19 as the Irish lost their last eight wickets for 62 runs. Off spinner Tamar Lambert was again among the wickets with 2/27.
Ireland were beaten by Guyana in their first match and a loss would effectively rule them out of the next round of competition, while Jamaica defeated the Windward Islands in their opener.
