A man who survived a gun attack three years ago was shot dead outside his Diego Martin home on Sunday night.Relatives of Ricardo "Watty" Watson, 34, said he was shot several times outside this home at Water Wheel Road shortly after 9 pm. He died about an hour later while undergoing emergency treatment at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.Speaking with members of the media outside the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday Watson's younger sister, Stacy-Ann, said her brother was warned not to return home or else he would be killed.She said following her brother's attempted murder three years ago he moved out of the area and went to live at Covigne Road, Diego Martin.The shooting she said caused a rift between Watson and some of his relatives whom he believed caused him to be shot. The bad blood intensified when another relative was shot sometime after Watson's shooting.
Watson who returned to the area about a year ago had been warned repeatedly that there were people who wanted him dead, his sister said, but he did not take heed to the warnings.
The father of one was expecting his second child in two months. Watson said her brother "had his good ways and his bad ways" and was a taxi driver. She said one of her other brothers also died at the hands of gunmen.On February 27, 2006 Jerome Watson, 20, was found slumped behind the wheel of a car at Savannah Road, Diego Martin.In an unrelated incident, the mother of Wayne "Foots" Harewood, who was shot dead at a bar in Couva on Saturday said she was leaving justice for her son in the hands of the Lord. Lucy Harewood told members of the media outside the Forensic Science Centre, St James, her first-born son, who earned his nickname because of his size 14 shoe, was one of the best father in the world.Police reports are that Harewood, 34, was killed around 4.10 am Saturday morning. Harewood, of McBean, Couva, and his friend, Kevon Edwards, 27, of Perseverance, Couva, were liming at Deja Vu nightclub on the Old Southern Main Road, Couva, when two gunmen entered and began shooting at them.
Harewood died on the scene while Edwards was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was warded at the Intensive Care Unit in a serious condition.Harewood said her son had a "hot mouth" and was unable to say whether that was the cause of his death. She said her son's killers, like many others, were walking around free while mothers mourned for their children.
Harewood said people could not live in their homes "choked up" and called on patrons not to go to places where their safety was not guaranteed.Meanwhile, police responded to a report after a decomposing body was found in a forested area at Balata Trace, off Tumpuna Road, Arena.According to police reports the man's body was found in a red and blue bedsheet about six feet from the road around 1.30 pm yesterday after an anonymous report was made to the San Rafael Police Station.
