A five-person North Zone Basketball Commission panel was elected on Wednesday night when it held its annual general meeting.
Kim Baptiste received the most votes, 38, while Hyacinth Hart and Kenneth Roberts amassed the second highest number with 37 each. Arnold Thomas and Steven Leonce secured 30 and 27 votes, respectively.
The five persons were expected to learn their roles within the North Zone, when the commission held its first meeting was scheduled last night in St James.
The National Basketball Federation of T&T's (NBFTT) constitution allows for members to vote five persons for executive positions. The five persons then meet privately to decide their respective positions.
The Central Zone, which held its AGM on Tuesday, saw June Rogers return as chairperson. Colette Paul also returns as deputy chairperson. Michael Peters is the secretary, while NBFTT vice-president Philip Sancho is the assistant secretary. Opal James is the treasurer.
Meanwhile, the Tobago Zonal Basketball Commission also conducted its AGM at Shaw Park on January 29. Kieron McDougall was elected chairman unopposed. He replaced acting chairman Ruthven Daniel. Daniel, the deputy chairman took over for Norbert Samuel, who resinged from his elected position four years ago.
The 2014 elected slate of executive members includes deputy chairman Strisand Murray, treasurer Keith Davidson, secretary (former assistant) Joann Bedlow-Soverall and assistant secretary Oba Arrindell.
