Yet another Labour Day celebration has gone by and the OWTU continues to ignore the role of its founding president general, Adrian Cola Rienzi, in its formal proceedings to mark the occasion.

Khan spins T&T to victory
T&T completed victory over the Leeward Islands yesterday to maintain their unbeaten run in the 2014 Regional First Class tournament, whipping the Islands by an innings and 107 runs at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain.
The Leewards folded for 238 in their second innings half an hour before the dinner break on the final day, to give T&T victory and 18 points. After two rounds, T&T now have 34 points and will head to Barbados this morning to oppose that country in their third round clash.
On Sunday night, the Leewards finished on 169 for six as their skipper Keiran Powell battled well for 67 runs. However, leg-spinner and man of the match Imran Khan spun webs around them to finish with 5/63 as the as four wickets fell for 69 runs. Khan grabbed 2/12 in the first innings to finish the match with figures of 7/75.
Powell weathered the early storm in the form of Shannon Gabriel on Sunday to take the game into the final day. However, the little hope they had all but faded when Powell snicked a delivery to wicketkeeper Steven Katwaroo on 67. He batted for 318 minutes and faced 244 balls, hitting five fours.
The Leewards tail wagged yesterday and made T&T work hard for the win. Justin Athanaze (38) and Gavin Tonge 28 added 54 runs for the ninth wicket before Khan accounted for both to end the locals’ frustration.
Meanwhile, the national selectors have made changes to the team for the next regional clash. T&T comes up against Barbados, who beat them in the final of the WICB Nagico Super50 tournament last month, in a fourth round match at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Friday.
However, when they leave for Barbados this morning they will have to do without the services of allrounder Akeal Hosein, who starred in the win against the Windwards with eleven wickets and then scored a maiden regional First Class century against the Leewards.
Hosein incurred a leg injury during the match and will be replaced in the 13-man squad by Queen’s Park all rounder Daron Cruickshank. The other changes will see new boy Ricky Jaipaul, a left arm spin bowler coming in for Kavesh Kantasingh.
SQUAD: Adrian Barath, Evin Lewis, Darren Bravo, Jason Mohammed, Jonathan Augustus, Imran Khan, Steven Katwaroo (wicketkeeper), Rayad Emrit (captain), Shannon Gabriel, Yannic Cariah, Daron Cruickshank, Ricky Jaipaul, Marlon Richards, Kelvin Williams (coach), Manohar Ramsaran(manager), Clinton Jeremiah (physio/trainer).
