The biggest event on the local Special Olympics calendar, the 32nd annual two-day Special Olympics National Games, will get going today starting with an opening ceremony at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port-of-Spain, from 8 am.Various venues will be used to stage the eight events which include athletics, aquatics (Diego Martin Community Pool), basketball, bocce, equestrian (T&T Police Service Mounted Branch, St James), football, powerlifting (Long Circular Health and Wellness Centre) and volleyball. Following today's sporting events, a gala concert will be held at the same venue from 5�8 pm.Action will continue tomorrow and is expected to conclude with a closing ceremony at the Jean Pierre Complex from 4.30 pm.The event is being hosted by Special Olympics T&T (SOTT) with aid from the Digicel Foundation. Last year, over 500 enthusiastic athletes participated representing 17 organisations.
