IPSL AUM recorded an easy victory in their first match of the SIS Industrial Cricket League on Tuesday over PowerGen Point Lisas. AUM won the toss and decided to take first strike but were off to a poor start losing opener Troy Ramoutar via the run out route without scoring.
Nigel Ferriera (38 retired hurt) and Valmiki Maharaj (28) then took advantage of some subpar bowling to help their team to a very competitive 87 for three. Ferriera sustained a minor groin injury in his bid to lift his team to a good total but still managed to register the top score of the innings.
E Francis was the top bowler for Powergen with 2-15. Powergen, in their turn at the crease, succumbed to some excellent bowling from the AUM attack which saw them restricted to 34 for seven off their allotted ten overs. Valmiki Maharaj and Byron Ramkissoon, who both finished with figures of 3-4 did repairable damage to Powergen's batting early on which they never recovered from. AUM won by a comfortable 53 run margin.
In the second fixture of the day, Air Liquide cruised to victory over EBSL at Macaulay Park. EBSL batted first and reached 55 for nine with Air Liquide's Dave Ramharrack taking the league's first five-wicket haul of five for three.
He received great support from Joel Springer 4-4 with the pair combining for a total of nine wickets.
Springer then led the way with a valuable 25 to seal victory for Air Liquide and the man of the match award for his all-round performance.
Meanwhile, WASA cruised to their second consecutive victory with a comprehensive win over Yara in the SIS Industrial Cricket League on Friday. WASA won the toss and decided to take first strike immediately putting the Yara bowling attack under pressure.
Openers Vijay Ramsaran (14) and Navindra Krishna (30 no) put together a solid partnership of 33 before Ramsaran was bowled by Imtiaz Mohammed. WASA seemed destined to reach the three figure mark, if not for Dale Dulalchan who had other ideas.
The opening bowler came back at the depth to produce a magnificent hat-trick removing Christopher Jagmohan (16) and Rishi Heetai and Avinash Harracksingh without scoring.
Dulalchan's spell of three for 31 helped restrict WASA to still daunting 80-5 in their ten overs.
Yara in reply, failed to find the boundary or build any partnerships and folded for a miserly 36.
Topscorer Imtiaz Mohammed made more than half of Yara's total contributing 20 but no other batsman was able to reach double figures in what was a disappointing batting display from a usually competitive Yara outfit. V Ramsaran had the best figures of 2-6 to ensure WASA stayed on course for a qualification spot in the Quarter Finals of the competition.
Over at Macaulay Park, Air Liquide got past Arcelor Mittal easily winning by seven wickets in a low scoring encounter.
A Sammy (13) was the only batsman to reach double figures for Mittal in their turn at the crease in what was a poor batting display from a Mittal team that posted a mammoth 136 for one in their previous encounter against EBSL.
Air Liquide's bowlers supported each other well with top performers A Rampersad and J Spring taking 2-6 and 2-4 respectively. In reply, Air Liquide coasted to their total winning the game in just the fifth over to ensure a valuable victory by seven wickets.
