T&T girls eliminated from Fed Cup
The national girls tennis team was knocked out of the Fed Cup America zone group two in Puerto Rico yesterday, after losing 2-1 to Costa Rica. The T&T team, which includes Anneliese Rose, Olivia Bennett and Shenelle Mohammed, needed to defeat Costa Rica to advance to the next round of qualifying for the Americas Zone Group I competition next year. The experienced Anneliese Rose gave T&T a great start, when she outlasted Juli Raventos 6-2, 6-4. However, Ariana Rahmanparast levelled the three-match series 1-1 for Costa Rica, defeating Olivia Bennett 6-1, 6-2. In the deciding match, Rahmanparast paired up with Andrea Brenes to get past Bennett and Rose in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
