Jeremy Solozano struck another century yesterday at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado, to lead the East zone into the final of the BG T&T Under-19 Interzone competition, where it will face the South zone.
Resuming on 86 not out yesterday, left-handed Solozano went on to make 158 to guide the East zone to 306 all out, a lead of 141 runs on first innings. On Tuesday, South-East was dismissed for 165. Afdal Khan pitched in with 38, while Justin Persad took five wickets for South-East, but conceded 112 runs.
At the close, South-East was struggling in the second innings on 44/4. East advanced to the final after winning first innings.
At Syne Village, Penal, South also advanced to the final after winning first innings points against North. Resuming on 20/0 in the second innings, with an overall lead of 73 runs, South was eventually dismissed for 190. Jordan Sankaran struck 70, while Carl Vialva was North's best bowler, snatching 4/20. Unfortunately, rain ended the match with North on 14/0, chasing 244 to win.
South and East will meet in the final on Tuesday and Wednesday at the National Cricket Centre in Couva. The third round of the BG T&T 50-over U-17 tournament bowls off today.
