Mario Belcon struck 50 yesterday to guide Merry Boys to a five-wicket win over Munroe Road and remain unbeaten in the T&T Cricket Board Premier Division T20 competition.
Merry Boys fast bowling duo Marlon Richards and Javon Searles were the chief destroyers, reducing Munroe to 118/9. National bowler Richards took 3/15, while Barbadian Searles picked up 2/29. Derwin Christian was the top batsman for Munroe, scoring 35, while Hanuman Moonsammy pitched in with 23.
In reply, Merry Boys got to the target comfortably, getting to 122/5 in 13.4 overs. Belcon led the chase with an even half-century, and Aaron Alfred made 25. Nishal Gayadeen was the lone bowler to cause problems, snatching 3/21.
Merry Boys have already booked a spot in the quarterfinals, after winning all four of its matches in the competition.
