World Eleven match agent Hernan Tofoni has confirmed that preparations are underway for the staging of the June 4 friendly international between T&T and Argentina in La Plata.
And a team of officials from the T&T Football Association and the Ministry of Tourism will head to Buenos Aires tomorrow for site visits and meetings ahead of the World Cup warm up. T&T will also face Iran in Sao Paolo, four days before the World Cup opener between Brazil and Croatia in that city.
The traveling party will meet with Tofoni of the World Eleven Agency which is responsible for all of Argentina's international matches. The Tourism Ministry will also present details shortly about a travel package that will allow a limited number of fans to travel to Argentina to witness the match.
With T&T's match against Colombia now off after the South Americans opted to play Senegal instead as they prepare to face Ivory Coast in the World Cup, Tofoni gave all assurances that the T&T versus Argentina encounter is very much scheduled to take place and tickets for the game are already on sale in Argentina and via the internet.
"We are expecting between 45-50,000 spectators at the stadium," Tofoni said.
"And the home fans will be very anxious and happy to see their top players together before they go to Brazil for the World Cup. All the preparation games are important for the head coach (Alejandro Sabella). The more games we play the more beneficial it will be to us."
Tofoni added that the game has significance not only in relation to Argentina's readiness for the Brazil 2014 World Cup but also due to the fact that it will be the first senior international outing between both teams (apart from the Pan American Games).
