Cephus Cooper displayed his all-round ability yesterday to give South-East a slim advantage over Central in round two of the BG T&T Under-15 Interzone tournament at Presentation College, Chaguanas.
Cooper single-handedly got South-East to 158/6 batting first, as the right-hander slammed an unbeaten 107. Rick Lovin pitched in with 19, while medium pace bowler Kyle Madoo took 5/28 for Central.
Cooper was also destructive with the ball in hand, snatching 3/23 to dismiss Central for 129 in the first innings. Justin Gangoo also caused some damage, taking 4/43. National U-15 batsman Crystian Thurton, who struck a century in round one, top scored with 48 for the Central boys.
South-East limped to 46/4 at stumps in the second innings, an overall lead of 74 runs. Captain Cooper was unbeaten at the close on 19.
The match between North-East and Tobago was postponed until next week Thursday and Friday, because the Tobago players are preparing for the SEA examinations.
