Rawle Duncan and Ernest Caesar representing National Quarries Company Ltd paired off to pip a duo from A Manwaring and Sons Limited to win the seventh annual Val Turton Carl Osborne Foundation (VTCOF) Charity Golf Tournament, held at Petrotrin Point-a-Pierre Golf Course, on Mothers Day.
Duncan and Caesar won by a single point, while Manwaring and Sons (Ravi Deonarine and Surendra Hanooman) finished two ahead of Cepep Limited, the third-placed finisher. National Energy and Phoenix Park Gas Processors, took a fourth and fifth placed finish, respectively.
According to organisers, the tournament was successful but was affected by several other golf tournaments, including the Presentation College and the Prime Minister's Charity tournament, which were scheduled around the same time. The foundation, however, was fortunate to attract a total of 23 participating teams.
Prizes were presented to the top five teams at the prize giving ceremony, which was held on the same evening at Sportsman's Verandah. Special prizes were also presented to the top ladies' team comprising Amoy Chang Fong and Pauline Raynor, and the top youth team of Makesi Riley and Christopher Richards. Each player was given a Mother's Day token to take home to his/her mother or wife.
The foundation has extended its gratitude to the sponsors and participants who contributed to the success of the tournament.
